Charlie at De Anza

Over the past few years De Anza students have watched Charlie Sheen go from the notorious “Wild Thing” and TV’s highest paid actor to one of entertainments most controversial figures.

Nearly everyone has heard about Sheen’s bad boy repertoire, yet in recent months coverage of his erratic, untamed and scandalous behavior has caused concern from the public.

At De Anza students have mixed feelings of guilt, pleasure and pity for Sheen’s situation.
“Humor is basically enjoying someone’s suffering,” said Steve Bowery, 23, an Art major “,Sheen’s essentially going through with-drawl but at the same time we’re sitting there laughing at him. It’s kind of depressing.”

Jesse Chin, 22, Undecided major said that, “It is really scary and sad what is happening to him, he looks so old and destroyed,”

Sheen has had frequent encounters with the police that have caused uneasiness in many, while others view Sheen’s demise as entertainment.

Some students have heard rumors about Sheen beating up his wife.  Kattie Bertolucci, 20, a Music major said, “One of my favorite movies was “Major League” and it’s just funny to see how his career was then and how it is now it just like a plane going down. Crash!”

True enough Sheen did indeed get fired from CBS’s “Two and a Half Man” which was the TV show that once crowned Sheen as the highest paid actor and now is kicking him off the throne.

Also, Sheen has been separated from his most recent wife and children. Still, De Anza students find Sheen’s drama entertaining.

Nick Valesquez, 20, forensic science admitted that he sees entertainment in Sheen’s situation but the media seems to be focused on the wrong issue, “I think it’s hilarious what’s going on. He’s just asking for it to happen but he’s acting like he likes it at the same time, it’s kind of sad that on the news this is the controversy while there’s all these protests going on people revolting in Libya.”

Other students don’t pay attention to what they hear and will always remember the Sheen that played in some of their favorite childhood movies. “I don’t know much about what’s going on with Charlie Sheen now,” said Melissa Caro, 25, a Child Development major ",don’t get me wrong he’s a great actor the first movie I ever saw him in was hot shots other than that I just feel bad for him now he’s just a moron for what he did.”

Others are neither apathetic towards Sheen’s situation or interested . Teddy Ivanova, 20, an undecided major simply said, in regards to Sheen and his media coverage, “I don’t care.”

Charlie Quotes

"As kids we're not taught how to deal with success; we're taught how to deal with failure. If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. If at first you succeed, then what?"

"
From my big beautiful warlock brain, welcome to 'Sheen's Korner' ... You're either in my corner, or you're with the trolls."

"
I have a different constitution. I have a different brain; I have a different heart; I got tiger blood, man."I think my passion is misinterpreted as anger sometimes. And I don't think people are ready for the message that I'm delivering, and delivering with a sense of violent love."Slash sat me down at his house and said, You've got to clean up your act. You know you've gone too far when Slash is saying, Look, you've got to get into rehab.
